Mandela Month 2024

Nelson Mandela was an inspiration to all South Africans and humanity. He had a relentless fight to help empower those who were most vulnerable in the community. For 2024 we have decided to focus not only Mandela day 2024 (18 July 2024) on helping those in need but to broaden the initiative to the entire month of July.

Below is a list of ideas of how you can join hands with us and partner in our fight against poverty this Mandela Month.

How to Get Involved

Jars of hope

As we commemorate the legacy of Nelson Mandela, we invite you to join us in filling jars with an easy to follow dry ingredients recipe and topping it off with messages of encouragement, love, and inspiration. These jars serve as beacons of hope for those facing food security, reminding them they are not alone on their journey. Simply fill a clean and dry jar with: - 0.5 Cup of Rice - 0.5 Cup of Lentils - 0.5 Cup of Soup Mix
- 1 Packet of Soup Powder
- 1 Unwrapped Stock Cube Layer the ingredients in the jar, close the lid tightly and attach a message of hop and lope for the recipient. Please deliver these to our offices in order for us to distribute to the most vulnerable in society.

Sign Up for MySchool

As a MySchool beneficiary, one of the ways you can help us this Mandela Month is to sign up for a MySchool card (free) and select us as your beneficiary. It is a very quick and simple setup and by swiping it at Woolworths-for free as well- we receive a donation from them. You can have your mom, brother, colleagues and even brother from another mother sign up and select us as their beneficiary.

Pack and Donate a Feminine Hygiene Pack

Every month ladies living under the bread line are forced to make a plan when their monthly cycle comes. This sometimes means using plastic bag, old t-shirt or even skipping school or work because of the lack of basic necessities. You can help combat this by donating feminine hygiene products or better yet packing a feminine toiletries pack with hygiene products and toiletries along with a message of hope and encouragement. These will be handed out to ladies that need them most.

Winter Collection

As the chill of winter approaches, we can not forget blankets and winter clothing. We believe that every individual deserves warmth and comfort during the coldest months of the year, You can collect and donate everything winter- from cozy blankets to warm jackets, gloves, scarves, and hats, every donation will make a meaningful impact on someone's life. Please make sure these are clean and in working condition and deliver to our offices please.

Collect Non-Perishable Groceries for our Grocery Drives

You can host a grocery collection for us. Your donation of canned goods, pasta, rice, and other non-perishable items will help provide essential nourishment to individuals and families facing hunger and food insecurity. Every contribution counts, so let's come together and make a meaningful impact in our community. Together, we can make sure that no one goes hungry.

Stationery Sets

In order to bless children without the correct tools to learn and do well at school- we have decided to do a Christmas in July focused on stationery sets for kids living in poverty. You can collect stationery for this project or even pack school bags with stationery to be donated to a child in need.
We can't change the lives of the future generation by not changing their education standards today. Without the proper tools the world's greatest teacher won't be able to reach and shape them into the best version if themselves. Help make a difference in the lives of the people of tomorrow.
